In the same year, after exploring many areas of fine art, Jane selected watercolor as her primary medium. she focused on realism with some excursions into the world of abstracts. Jane also applied her experiences in the fine arts to original mural painting, both in commercial and residential settings. Jane returned to the hill country of her native Texas in the fall of 2001. Jane chose to build her new studio under the spreading Live Oaks of the gentle sloping hills of Kerr County. Jane named her new studio Sunset Studio, after the vivid sunsets which can be viewed from the studio.

In the Fall of 2001 Jane began to experiment with different techniques and applications of watercolors. These experimental watercolors are begun in the abstract style with no preconceived idea of what the painting will be. While many of the works continue in the abstract style, some works move into the impressionistic style. Jane believes that art captures experiences in life at a moment in time, and is viewed not only with the eye but also the soul. She found that these experimental watercolors allow her to enjoy a challenging journey of discovery, and, that the completed paintings provide the viewer an oppportunity to also enjoy a journey of discovery; and you are invited to begin that journey by visiting her galleries, impressionistic and abstract.

Jane offers classes daily/weekly instruction in art. On the second Tuesday of each month Jane has art class for a maximum of four people [based on double occupancy]. The students arrive on Monday evening for dinner, and classes are held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with departure on Friday morning after breakfast. These weekly classes are designed so that the students will stay at Sunset Inn, with three meals a day provided.
